<How long have you enjoyed the Olympics?>
By. Glass Flycatcher🐦

Do you remember the drone show that embroidered the night of Pyeongchang? The Olympics are the first to apply cutting-edge technology, and are also a place where the host country is proud of its status. As we enter the multi-media, multi-channel era, the fun of checking the growth of digital technology has also increased. I would like to take a look back at the Olympic Games that have made rapid progress since the first Internet broadcast was conducted during the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

📱 Together, double the fun – 2012 London Olympics🇬🇧

Wi-Fi was installed at the London Olympic site, allowing real-time exchanges. An application for receiving Olympic news and a site for collecting the athletes' SNS were also developed. Accordingly, a new coined word called the Social Olympics was born by combining SNS and the Olympics. Thanks to this, we were able to watch interactively and actively. N-Screen, where you can enjoy multiple games at the same time , appeared, providing HD (high-definition) broadcasting for the first time in all sports, and 3D broadcasting using a smart TV was also introduced.

📡 It’s okay if you can’t watch the live broadcast – 2016 Rio Olympics🇧🇷

The number of terrestrial TV broadcast viewers gradually decreased , recording an all-time low at the Rio Olympics. More and more viewers want to check the results with highlight videos and articles rather than live broadcasts. In addition, Samsung Electronics provided VR (virtual reality) broadcasting as an official Olympic partner.

🏠 Festivities at home – Tokyo 2020 Olympics🇯🇵

So, how was this Olympics? OTT platform Wave has compiled a special page for sports content. Naver prepared a live talk for players support space and real-time communication. In addition, by introducing 4D replay that allows you to see the game scene in 360 degrees, dynamic viewing and fair refereeing became possible. This technology was provided by a Korean video company , which made it even more popular.

Through this diversification of platforms, social viewing, where people share opinions and consume content on the Internet, was maximized. However, when malicious comments were left in the cheering space or abuse of harassing players on LiveTalk continued, Naver closed some support spaces .

🎮Let's go to the Olympics with Metaverse - 2024 Paris Olympics and beyond🇫🇷

Looking back on the ever-evolving technology, we can't help but look forward to the next Olympics, right? With the advent of augmented reality (MR), which has progressed from virtual reality, interest in the metaverse is hot recently. The metaverse is a virtual space where real-world activities can be realized through avatars. As non-face-to-face communication continued, the sports world also started to use the metaverse. The NBA (American Professional Basketball) created the NBA Land where fans can interact, and the Korea Sports Association, in collaboration with ZEPETO, built the Team Korea House where you can experience Olympic sports. Maybe there will be a way to enjoy the upcoming Olympics as if you were there, even if you don't go there!

<The game is not over yet!>
By. Dolphin🐬

The Tokyo Olympics came to an end, and the '16th Tokyo Paralympic Games' started on August 24!
In the men's table tennis singles, Joo Young-dae, Kim Hyeon-wook, and Nam Nam-won swept gold🥇silver🥈dong🥉 and showed the potential of Korean table tennis, and in track and field, 'Smile Racer 😄' Min-jae Jeon showed a great performance in 4th place in 200m! 😊

😥Lack of interest!😥

Despite the great performances of Korean athletes, people's interest in the Paralympic Games is low. Even just looking at the opening ceremony, the Paralympic ratings are always lower than the Olympics.

Again, the viewer rating of the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics was 8.4% (based on KBS), while the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games showed an audience rating of 3.6% (based on KBS).

👀 But shouldn't the media be interested?👀

🔍 As a result of finding out through Big Kinds , the number of articles related to the 'Tokyo Olympics' keyword (based on central and broadcasting companies, excluding duplicate and exception articles) was 961 a week before the opening of the Olympics (7,16-7.22).  A week before the Paralympic Games (8.17-8.23), the number of articles related to the 'Tokyo Paralympic' keyword (based on central newspapers and broadcasters, excluding duplicate and exceptional articles) was 130, indicating that the number of quantitative articles about the Paralympic Games was significantly lower. (References!)

📺 Even during the Tokyo Paralympic Games

KBS predicted 26 hours, 21 episodes/ MBC 15 hours 50 minutes, 13 episodes/SBS 10 hours 10 minutes, 5 episodes, but the US terrestrial NBC total 1,200 hours and British Channel 4 broadcast more than 300 hours. It's a far cry from what was foretold.

Also, since the broadcast time is mainly in unpopular times such as midday☀ or late night 🌙, people have a lot of access to it.

Isn't it a bit contradictory that broadcasters who competed for broadcasting in the Olympics show a passive attitude in the Paralympics?

❓But what does the Paralympic Games mean?❓

In fact, people unfamiliar with the Paralympic Games may not feel the need to pay attention.

However, in the Paralympic Games, by implementing Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights” , disabled people become 'active members of society' and It is meaningful in that it shows that you are working.

The name of the Paralympic Games is also a combination of 'parallel' meaning 'parallel' and 'Olympics' meaning 'Olympic', meaning that it is equal and equal to the Olympics for ordinary people!

😊 I hope to do this in the future! 😊

In addition to increasing the broadcast time⏰ of the Paralympic Games, we need to increase the broadcast schedule between 7-9pm for accessibility! In the case of major games, if you broadcast broadcast 🔊 like the Olympics, you will be able to gather people's interest in the Paralympic Games in the future!

Although the Paralympic Games are over, we hope to see you in a better shape next time!

<Tokyo Olympics, the moment broadcasters left an impression on viewers>
By. Beaver 🐹

From July 23rd to August 8th, when the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were held, it was a period of comforting the world exhausted from Corona 19 for a while. It was a dazzling moment to see the players from each country doing their best regardless of the result. The comments of the commentators relaying this appearance became a topic of discussion! Let's take a look at what was said, shall we?

Happiness isn't sexual.

The field that viewers are most interested in in the Olympics is probably the performances of the athletes and their stories. Commentators' commentary is also a factor that draws the attention of viewers. Previously, there were also relays that focused only on the color of medals. Of course, this trend of relaying still remains. When a player who was expected to win a bronze medal at a broadcasting station, he said, "It's not the color we wanted." Some even said that it was a remark that undermined the value of the sweat the players had shed over the past five years. Coubertin, the founder of the Olympics, said: 'The real meaning of the Olympic Games is participation, not victory. The most important thing in life is hard work, not success.” medal? Of course it's important. There is no metric that guarantees the sweat of athletes as much as medals. But is it all about medals?

Tokyo Olympics? 'Tokyo Non-Paralympics!'

The most talked about words were the last words of KBS announcer Jae-hoo Lee at the Tokyo Olympics. "The 32nd Tokyo Non-Paralympic Games, all broadcasts of Korean broadcasting KBS will end here", I think, is a statement that dispels our preconceived notions. The message went viral on social media. It is said that this is not the first time announcer Lee Jae-hoo has mentioned the non-Paralympics. While finishing the broadcast of the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, he also left the words, 'This is the end of the broadcast of the 23rd Pyeongchang Non-Disabled Winter Olympics'.

Broadcast of successful unpopular sports

The 'joyful revolt of an unpopular sport' continued in this Olympics. Athletics high jump player Woo Sang-hyeok and modern pentathlon nationals Jeon Woong-tae and Jeong Jin-hwa received a lot of attention. Even in the broadcast of unpopular sports, there were also sports that were engraved in the minds of viewers. That's 'surf'. KBS commentator Songmin, who is in charge of the surf relay, said, “The best surfer is not a person with excellent technology, but someone who enjoys surfing purely”, “The most used phrase in the surfing world is ‘the same wave never comes’”, etc. He was noted for his speech.

He also mentioned the episodes of the players. For example, we relayed the story of a gold medalist who was born in a slum and started surfing using the icebox lid as a board. It was said that it was a relay that aroused the interest of the viewers. This proves that a good commentary shows interest in any sport. What if broadcasters recognize these viewers' thoughts and start broadcasting in the future? Wouldn't it be fun and exciting?

<Sports spectators need yellow cards too!>
By. tiger🐯

🤔The Tokyo Olympics have come to an end, and questions have arisen 🤔

Tokyo Olympics postponed for a year due to COVID-19! On the 5th, the Paralympic Games ended! 👏 As it was difficult to watch world-class sports events for a long time due to the pandemic, the people were able to enjoy sports together for a long time. The many games at the Olympics that we cheered for together! Were there a lot of fierce matches? However, there are cases where players are sometimes given yellow cards in fierce matches. For example, in the women's volleyball quarterfinals at the Olympic Games, Kim Yeon-kyung received a yellow card. A yellow card is a card given when it is shown that a foul is committed or an unsportsmanlike act is inappropriate in the spirit of sports. One question arises here! A yellow card that can be given to sports players, isn't it necessary for sports spectators who are together through spectators?

🙌 Everyone's sportsmanship! (PS, everyone says, “Players + spectators!”)🙌

At the Tokyo Olympics, the women's volleyball team🏐 met a lot of strong teams. In the quarterfinals the world rankings and 4th in Turkey and met with world number two ranking finals in Brazil. Korea is ranked 14th in the world, and it is quite surprising and proud to have placed 4th in the Tokyo Olympics! However, after the Korea VS Turkey match and the Korea VS Brazil match, it felt very different. Shortly after the match ended with Korea winning the match against Turkey, the Turkish national team shed tears thinking about their country suffering from the wildfires. Seeing this, Korean women's volleyball fans donated seedlings🌳 to Turkey in the name of Yeon-kyung Kim, and the Turkish Association of Environmental Organizations gave thanks in Korean and strength 🥰. However, the reaction of all netizens in both countries was not pleasant for the match between Korea and Brazil.

Before the match, Brazil's key striker was caught in a doping test and could not compete, and Sheila Castro, a former national volleyball team member of Brazil, left a reply that seemed to underestimate the skills of Korean volleyball. (More details here!) Except for the fact that I am a former Brazilian women's volleyball player, "a person who does not participate in the game left these words on their social media". Of course, “the former national volleyball player of the country we will soon meet” is very important! Even without this element, it cannot be said that it is good to leave such a comment on social media, right? If it had been on the pitch, it might well have deserved a yellow card. Hmm. Not only the players, but the spectators must also have sportsmanship, but can we say that it was a true sport from start to finish?

😎Give yourself a yellow card😎

Yes, not only the players in the game have sportsmanship, but we who watch sports should have sportsmanship too! Sportsmanship that clearly acknowledges victory and defeat and raises objections without slandering anyone if there is anything to object to! However, I think it is very difficult because there is no referee who will give a yellow card to the sports spectators who are mainly active on the internet😥. If there is no referee to give a yellow card, the sports spectators, that is, the spectators, have to maintain their own sportsmanship. The only way to truly enjoy sports is for players, coaches and spectators to maintain their sportsmanship. Everyone asked whether they kept their sportsmanship in this Olympics, whether they could not get a yellow card, and the next time they said, 'I should have sportsmanship too.' How about making a promise?
